Ogilvy Hong Kong shines bright in Cannes Industry Craft Lions with 2 Gold and 2 Silver
Ogilvy Hong Kong continued their outstanding performance in Cannes again tonight winning 2 Gold Lions and 2 Silver Lions for their Hot & Spicy print campaign. The campaign, produced by top Thailand CGI Studio Illusion, now has won 5 Gold Lions and 2 Silvers at this year’s Festival.
Tonight’s two Gold Lions were for Art Direction and the 2 Silver Lions were for Photography.
In total Asia picked up 2 Gold, 5 Silver and 8 Bronze Lions in the Industry Craft Lions.
Dentsu Tokyo picked up a Silver and Bronze Lion; TBWA\Thailand came away with a Silver and 2 Bronze Lions and Sha Inc Tokyo won Silver.
Single Bronze Lion winners were Amber China, Hakuhodo Malaysia, Prakit Thailand, Cheil Hong Kong and Havas Shanghai.

In the Industry Craft Lions: 1,720 entries were received and 47 Lions awarded: 5 Gold, 13 Silver and 28 Bronze. The Grand Prix went to ‘Ali’ by Ogilvy, Chicago for SC Johnson, USA.

They’ve done it again. Jewel in the Ogilvy crown, and a magnificent effort.
I live in HK and I’ve never seen the KFC work. Or the JBL work.

No-one in HK has. There is no media attached. It’s a nice idea (KFC, not JBL, which is weak) but that’s all it is. As Hegarty said recently about Cannes in general, it’s portfolio work. It’s not solving any client marketing challenges.

Those hell bent on winning a Lion have skin thicker than chicken deep fried with double layers of batter.
And the organisers aren’t gonna disqualify any one from their diminishing pool of entries.
Let this circus play out as a fringe freakshow to the real business of paid advertising.
