Danny Higgins to leave McCann Singapore as Ali Grayeli takes over as executive creative director
McCann
Worldgroup Singapore is making another change at the top of the
creative department with Senior Creative Director Ali Grayeli (pictured
right) taking over sole responsibility as Executive Creative Director
from Aussie expat Danny Higgins (left). Latest development is that Higgins will stay on with the agency, transitioning out over the next few months and will continue to work on key clients’ businesses.
Higgins
joined McCann Singapore overseeing creative on a number of local and
regional pieces of business but took over as ECD from Todd Waldron in
2012 when Waldron moved sideways within the group to run Craft. Waldron
had only joined McCann as ECD in April 2011.
Grayeli has 17 years working in in the industry with brands in China, Europe and North America picking up a gold pencil and a silver lion in the process. He has worked on global brands such as Nintendo, Nike, Playstation, Mitsubishi and Dove.
Higgins told Campaign Brief Asia that he has been looking at his next career step for some weeks and had already had a couple of good discussions.

More internecine manipulation from a big bad multi-national. Danny is a great guy.
Shame. Danny’s one of the good guys. How many ecds has McCann Singapore had over the past 5 years??
Never seen anything remotely decent or even poorly average from this agency in over a decade. just because you go drinking with someone does not make them a nice guy. Let’s gear up for the next.
Danny is one of the best.
Maybe too nice to see shit like this coming.
Too bad.
what a shame…Danny r u the best!

In case everyones unaware, the economy is in the toilet for a few months now. Why would an agency with not a lot of business need 2 top level people who do the same thing? Plus its not like one does way better work than the other. Obviously you keep the cheaper one…..nothing to do with nice.
Doesn’t anyone watch and learn from Madmen?
Fact is none of their work has been anywhere near good anyway. This could just be another interim.
What 2 top level people are you talking about? One is international class ECD and the other is as yet, an unknown quantity.
International class CD…I dont know about that….all I know remember is someone who wrote some average ads for a dump of a chicken rice restaurant called yet con…and has done nothing since. Try writin ads for a chicken reataurant today and see how much scorn that brings you. Most CDs who spend their time doing chicken rice stall ads, instead of trying to do good real work, find themselves in these sticky situations sometimes. Not the first time and not the last either.
MInd you…not defending the other guy either….nearly blinded myself looking at his portfolio some months back.
To put it into perspective….it’s not the end of the world….its only mccann.
To be fair to Danny, he didn’t do it as a CD but as a young writer new to Asia.
The cautionary tale is that one must move on.
Be famous for recent work for big brands.
Not a scam from 20 years ago.
Old pencils doesn’t keep one on the payroll.
Polishing that turd of a bank brochure does.
Yeah, he’s a great guy. He just didn’t produce any great work. Look at McCann Melbourne. Less than 20 staff and leading the world.
