Karthik Sekhar joins ITSA Brand Innovations India in the position of executive creative director

On the appointment Emmanuel Upputuru, Founder, ITSA said, “It gives me great pride to see the kind of talent we are attracting. As I said a month ago, we are in the middle of changing gears. And with Karthik on board I feel confident our team is fully prepared for the creative calendar year ahead. Karthik is a champion player who, I am confident, can win both T20 and the Test matches for us.”

Sekar (pictured) commented, “ITSA to me is a creativity pool that is seeped in talent. its a playground for progressive and talented innovators to explore and push new boundaries. Emmanuel’s unique creative philosophy is the driving force behind the hunger to achieve ideas that appeal to the sensibilities of the audience – Digital and Otherwise. I’m excited to be collaborating with the team and to be able to bring my thinking into the mix.”

Sekar worked on the film, “A Day in the Life of Chennai – Nakka Mukka” for Times of India, which bagged India’s first Gold Film Lion at the 2009 Cannes Lions Festival. The film went on the become the Most Awarded Asian film of the Year with 2 Gold Film Lions for Film and Film Craft followed by a Lotus Roots Grand Prix at the Asia Pacific AdFest and the Yahoo! Big Idea Chair at the 2009 Effie Awards. This helped him get ranked as one of India’s Hottest Creatives by the Campaign Brief Asia.

He started his career after his internship project won a Gold for Best Package Design for JWT. He commenced as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator, going on to become an Art Director at JWT heading its Top National brands like Levi’s, Ford, Nike, Van Heusen, the Lifestyle Store, and other Fashion and Retail Brands and Creative Group Head for Times of India, Sulekha.com, BSA Motors and Special Projects for JWT Bangalore.

He has spent the last two years collaborating on various Feature Film projects with some of India’s finest Film Directors and Production Designers. His gamut of work also includes Rebranding and Designing a Woman’s Magazine JFW, Fashion Photography and Shoot Production for the label D’Vie, creating Concept Art and Directing an Animated Graphic Novel Film for Squaremoon.com, etc. His commissioned photography for Aish Scarves Lookbook is currently featured in Vogue.in and Bungalow 8.
