DDB Hong Kong takes out top effectiveness prize for McDonald’s campaign at Hong Kong Effies

HK4As Effie Awards Grand Effie Winning Team - McDonaldA McDonald’s campaign created by DDB Group Hong Kong has been named the Grand Effie winner at the Hong Kong Effie gala presentation at Island Shangri-La on Saturday last week.

The McDonald’s campaign “From CNY to WNY: Making the Most of the New Year” emerged as the Grand Effie and a Gold winner amongst 25 finalists. Other Golds awarded on the night were won by Leo Burnett for their “Are U Sure?” campaign, Havas Worldwide Hong Kong for “The Orange Beach” campaign and OMD Hong Kong for “Two Thoughts One Goal” campaign.

The brands Dettol and McDonald’s gained the most honors with 3 trophies respectively. Creative agencies DDB Group Hong Kong, Havas Worldwide Hong Kong, Leo Burnett Limited, Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Hong Kong bagged 3 trophies respectively, while media agency OMD Hong Kong was awarded the highest number of trophies with 4 this year. This year’s jury, comprising professionals in their respective fields of expertise, agreed that agencies, marketers and clients demonstrated their strong will in advancing the creative impetus with ideas that produce effective results.

In total 26 Awards were handed out, including the Grand Effie, 4 Golds, 3 Silvers and 5 Bronzes. The Effie Award is recognized by the marketing industry globally as the pre-eminent award honouring campaigns that demonstrate effectiveness and results. The Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of Hong Kong (HK4As) launched the Effies in 2004 and is now into its eleventh year.

The Grand Effie, Gold, Silver, Bronze winners and Finalists will be included in the Effie Effectiveness Index, a global ranking which identifies and ranks the most effective marketers, brands by analysing finalist and winner data from worldwide Effie competitions.
