Am I the only one thinking WTF? Who picks these juries? D&AD used to be the pinnacle. The hardest to win. The best show with the best judges. I’m not sure on the credentials of the Japanese judges but a third of the others are not qualified to judge and have not won a serious award for years, if at all. And CK Tan on digital? Understand if he was on print or outdoor. Kancil and Kam Fan chooses better judges!
Not exactly a fine vintage.
The rule should be one can only judge in the category they have previously won a D&AD before.
That will eliminate a huge chunk of ‘jury fillers” just to attract entries from Asia.
wow what a lineup….pass!
“The rule should be one can only judge in the category they have previously won a D&AD before.”
For a real ad…..if I may add.
Agree with above
D&AD is just indulging Asia to gain entries and it’s affecting the prestige.
The three jury heads from Asia are all talented and deserving of invitations, but I want the jury’s run by the UK and US legends like Hegarty, Droga, Lubars and the hot ECDs winning big awards now like Ted Royer, Ben Priest, Colleen DeCourcy, who to be fair is a foreman this year.
“I want world class juries judging my work” I’m with you. You’re not alone. I’m also thinking WTF? Just because CK is working for a digital set up makes him qualified to judge digital? Put him on print & outdoor! A previous DDB China staff who works for D&AD now chooses her previous colleagues or connections to be a judge? One should only qualify to judge D&AD if he/she have won D&AD before! D&AD office should do a check to see if some of these judges have won a D&AD before. It’s all in their system!

It’s amazing when you do a search and see if they have won a D&AD and most of them don’t even qualify.
So how can we expect these juries to judge world class works!
Is the opinion of a nobody any better than the opinion of everybody?
Might as well ask housewives in Luton to judge.
No difference at all.
Then again, it won’t drive entries from Asia , right?
Searched a few.
No problem with Norman, Joji or Suthisak, but transfer CK to Press or Outdoor!

Seems like a passable jury if you want to enter some pro bono public service stuff…rest, I wouldn’t bother. Hard pressed to think of any good and awarded real work done by these folks.
