Power Sleep_Do good while you sleep.jpgAlfred.jpgCheil Worldwide has scored their highest ever tally of wins at this year’s Clio Awards. The agency picked up three Silver trophies and two Bronzes.

Samsung’s “PowerSleep” concept was awarded Direct Silver, PR Silver and PR Bronze. Cheil partnered with the Faculty of Life Sciences of the University of Vienna to create this unique alarm clock app.

The free Android app enables users to simply turn it on by setting an alarm clock when going to sleep. While the user sleeps, the smartphone “works” for a good cause by contributing its unused processing power to scientific research.

Small packets of data, no more than 1 megabyte in size – smaller, in fact, than a conventional MP3 file – are sent out from the research lab servers and returned again after the mobile devices have performed their calculations.

Samsung’s Alfred the mobile photographer also picked up a Film Technique Silver and Samsung’s Life in every Pixel also won Bronze in Film Technique.

“It’s always nice to be recognized at award shows, especially at the Clio Awards,” said Choi. “This year, we scored three silvers, two bronzes and two shortlists, the most ever for Cheil Worldwide at the Clios. The success is gratifying because we passed the litmus test of the judges, who’re known to be tough. Being recognized in the extremely competitive film category is also a testament of our high-quality film standards. Although we didn’t clinch a gold, we’re still tremendously satisfied with the results and will be celebrating with our UK and Austria offices.”
