Award winning creative duo Omar Sotomayor and Gaston Soto join BBH Asia Pacific Singapore
Senior Copywriter Omar Sotomayor and Senior Art Director Gaston Soto have joined BBH Asia Pacific in Singapore.
The duo were most recently with Lapiz Leo Burnett Chicago. Sotomayor (left) and Soto (right) have been producing award winning work across the US and Latin American market for blue chip clients such as P&G, AllState Insurance, Kelloggs and McDonalds.
Sotomayor began his advertising career at Havas Peru (formerly Euros) then spent the next four years as a copywriter at both a marketing and start-up digital boutique before moving to Circus Leo Burnett in Peru and then to Lapiz Leo Burnett Chicago as Senior Copywriter.
Soto began as a graphic designer at JWT in Peru, later moving as Senior Art Director to Havas Buenos Aires, and then to Circus Leo Burnett in Peru where he began working with Omar. They moved to Lapiz Leo Burnett Chicago as a team.
Sotomayor and Soto’s collective talent and approach to ideas has earned them accolades that include the Cannes Young Lion Award two years running, making Forbes Magazine’s ’30 under 30′ marketing and advertising professionals list, and winning leading awards at the Cannes Lions, One Show, El Ojo de Iberoamerica awards, Addys U.S., Mercury Awards, Effie Awards, New York Festival and London International Awards.
Scott McClelland, ECD, BBH Asia Pacific said, “If you dig a hole from Singapore, you’ll eventually come out up in Peru. That’s where we went to find these guys. Gaston and Omar are true black sheep – they’ve done some great work, are super guys and we’re lucky to have lured them so far from home”
Sotomayor and Soto commented, “When we look back, so much BBH work we have seen has inspired us. Now here we are, thankful for the opportunity for this new adventure. We are inspired, challenged and committed to producing the great work a black sheep agency deserves. Hola BBH!”

Welcome to the flock.
Hope it works out…they seem terribly keen….when will agencies realise that just because someone is from the world’s best agency does not guarantee anything in singapore…..probably just frustration. It takes a few years to get into the groove and understand how things work here…a learning curve that can test the patience of clients and even the agency itself.
Come for the money. Stay for the girls. Leave for the work.
Money? What money?
CDs are now getting what senior writers and art directors got 10 years ago.
It all went to planners and CCOs.
@ reality
It’s fair because the standard of a CD or an ECD is a step down in Asia versus its equivalent to the rest of the world.
Welcome guys,
You’ll love it in Singapore….but don’t get caught up in the jaded frustration. You’ll have the chance to do some great work and work with people who still have a love for what they do. Enjoy yourselves. Savour the great food. Get away to some nearby islands over long weekends. Life is too short to get bitter and resentful about your job….and coming from South America, I’m sure you guys know that. Actually you can probably teach us a few things about enjoying life and producing some great work at the same time…
Firstly, the food’s not that great…the islands are hot and dusty with so-so water quality…and the quality of work isn’t going to be that hot either.
This isnt the top shelf bbh uk we’re talking about amigos…this is probably the C team… Kinda reminds me of ian bateys shop after every one decent had left.
@ eyes wide open
True that the work out of BBH office is c grade. But water quality is one of the cleanest and best in the world. What’s good about the food is the fact that there are more choices than other countries, perhaps you should go out more. End of the day it probably tops where they came from.
Patronising ex pats.
Singapore’s full of them, amigos. Sorry bout that.
Make up your own minds and enjoy the stay.
Welcome to the world of the humanoid!
