Currently serving as Deputy Managing Director in Singapore, she will succeed Andrew Thomas, who has been promoted to the role of President of Ogilvy PR, Southeast Asia. The changes will take effect on January 1, 2014.

Chong, who joined the company more than 13 years ago, has held a succession of key roles in various markets, including Sydney and Kuala Lumpur, making her one of the most experienced PR operators in the Ogilvy network.

Andrew Thomas hailed his Deputy’s “passion and integrity”, adding: “This promotion ensures continued stability at the top of Ogilvy PR and represents a seamless transition as we embrace sweeping change within the industry.”

He continued: “Chong represents the very best of Ogilvy and the very best of our industry. Her integrity, passion and knowledge are well known across the industry, network and the region, and this move will see her write a new chapter in the agency’s massive growth story of recent years. She has been a fabulous partner over the past eight years and central to charting the next phase of our growth which embeds strategic planning, creative and social into the Ogilvy PR way of working.”

In recent years the Singapore business has tripled in size and added new practices like Social@Ogilvy, Ogilvy Impact for employee communications, Social Marketing, as well developing a new content and strategic planning division.

Earlier this year, in recognition of its success and constant innovations, Ogilvy PR, Singapore, was voted the leading PR Agency in Singapore for the fourth year running as well as the leading Specialist Agency for Southeast Asia.

Ogilvy & Mather Singapore Chairman, Fiona Gordon, said: “Ee Rong had been pivotal to the Agency’s massive success.

“Ogilvy PR is the most global of all large PR networks, and having been established in high-growth markets like here in Asia, it is nearly twice the size of any other network. We have endeavoured to ensure that Ogilvy PR integrates its work deeply with other disciplines from the outset, ensuring alignment and understanding of the brand and its ambitions, and leveraging shared research and knowledge.”

“Ee Rong understands this better than most and moving forward, her passion for such deep integration and shared knowledge will ensure Ogilvy stays right at the front and centre of our industry.”

Speaking about the task in front of her, Ee Rong said: “It is a tremendous honour to be surrounded by some of the best in the business, and taking on the mantle of one of the most successful companies in the region. Many agencies are finding it tough to embrace the kinds of skills required to operate successfully in this new world of influence. My focus will be on making sure that the brilliant Ogilvy PR team fits together seamlessly and moves forward as one.
