McCann WorldGroup wins Platinum for the second year running at the Digital Asia Festival
McCann/MRM Philippines, the advertising and digital operating units of McCann WorldGroup, have been awarded the Platinum award for Coca- Cola at this year’s Digital Asia Festival.
This is the second consecutive year McCann WorldGroup has been awarded Platinum or ‘Best of Show’ at Digital Asia Festival for Coca-Cola. In total the network collected Platinum, 2 Gold, Bronze and a shortlist.
McCann WorldGroup Philippines secured the Platinum for their highly emotional initiative for Coca-Cola Philippines titled ‘Overseas Foreign Worker’s Project’, which saw three very deserving Filipino migrant workers travelling home for a surprise reunion with their families during the Christmas festivities. There are approximately 11 million Filipinos working overseas and many have not returned home in a very long time due to financial pressures.
Jonathan Mildenhall, VP-Global Advertising Strategy and Creative Excellence, The Coca-Cola Company said, “I have presented the Philippines case story to about 35 audiences all over the world this year. Each time the work brings with it tears and often a standing ovation. Congratulations to our brilliant team in the Philippines. This work, created in collaboration with Coke and McCann, inspires us to be brave and to produce work that makes a difference in the world.”
Matias Palm-Jensen, Chairman Nordics and Chief Innovation Officer McCann, and Chairman of the Jury was quoted in Campaign Asia saying, “I shouldn’t be commenting, because it’s McCann’s work, but it’s a beautiful, beautiful piece. It was so strong emotionally, and so real, and that’s hard.”
Matias Palm-Jensen, as Chairman of the Jury, abstained from voting or comment on the entry during judging.
McCann/MRM Thailand also picked up two Gold accolades for their client Amarin Book Center entitled ‘See from Sound’, and Bronze award for Italasia Electro Company WMF Knives ‘ Incredible Sharpness’. McCann/MRM Thailand were the only Agency in Thailand to secure Gold at the Digital Asia Festival.
