The Top 25 most awarded agencies in the 2018 Campaign Brief Asia Creative Rankings + the Top 20 most awarded creative leaders in Asia

CB Asia 2018 Rankings_Top6Agencies.jpgWe are now down to the business end of the 2018 Campaign Brief Asia Creative Rankings – the most awarded agencies in Asia chart. Over the past two months Campaign Brief has tabulated every award result from the past 2 years at 11 important global and regional advertising awards and festivals to rank all 206 agencies that won awards over that 2 year period – from #1 down to #206.

The shows that are included in these calculations are: Ad Stars 2016 + 2017; Spikes Asia 2016 +2017; AWARD Awards 2017 + 2018; AdFest 2017 + 2018; Campaign Brief’s THE WORK 2017 + 2018; Clio Awards 2016 + 2017; London International Awards 2016 + 2017; New York Festivals 2017 + 2018; One Show 2017 + 2018; D&AD 2017 + 2018; and Cannes Lions 2017 + 2018.

From a network perspective Ogilvy has 5 agencies ranked in the Top 25 – Ogilvy Thailand, Ogilvy Singapore, Ogilvy Tokyo, Ogilvy Hong Kong and Ogilvy Mumbai. The TBWA network has also performed extremely well with 4 offices in the Top 25 – TBWA\Hakuhodo Tokyo, TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno Philippines, TBWA\Thailand and TBWA\Shanghai.

However the most awarded agency of the year is Dentsu Inc Tokyo. For the 4th Campaign Brief Asia Creative Rankings in a row Dentsu Inc Tokyo sits on top of the Hottest Agencies in Asia Creative Ranking. With 5,315 Creative Ranking Points the Japanese creative giant is nearly 2,000 points in front of #2.

In 2018 Dentsu Inc Tokyo picked up awards at every award show they entered. Their best performances were at Spikes Asia (530pts), London International Awards (410pts), Cannes Lions (350pts), AdStars (300pts), One Show (260pts), D&AD (250pts) and AdFest (205pts).

The result sees Dentsu Inc Tokyo named Campaign Brief Asia’s 2018 Regional Creative Agency of the Year.

This year’s Campaign Brief Asia Creative Rankings sees our top 6 agencies all recording amazing performances at award shows over the past 2 years.

TBWA\Hakuhodo Tokyo has been a big improver in the Creative Rankings over the past 5 years. In 2014 they ranked #24 in Asia but in the 2017 Creative Rankings they jumped up to #3 overall. This year the agency bettered their 2017 performance and are ranked #2 in Asia.

CB Asia 2018 Rankings_Top25Agencies.jpgOgilvy Group Thailand is another agency that has enjoyed enormous success – moving up from #15 in 2016 and #5 in 2017 to rank #3 in Asia today.

Their outstanding performance sees Ogilvy Group Thailand named Campaign Brief’s 2018 Southeast Asia Creative Agency of the Year.

Always a consistent big award winner, McCann Worldgroup Mumbai, actually outperformed recent successes with an extremely high performing result in 2018. This year they improved 2 places to rank as the #4 most awarded agency in Asia. In total McCann Worldgroup Mumbai picked up a total of 2,200 Creative Ranking Points at award shows over the past 12 months. Only Dentsu Inc Tokyo picked up more Creative Ranking Points over the same period.

The “new kids on the block” are the #5 ranked Cheil Worldwide Hong Kong. The agency moves up an incredible 15 places on their 2017 creative ranking. In 2017 Cheil ranked at #41 and were placed back in #52 position in 2014.

CJ Worx Bangkok moves up 3 places to #6. The Thailand independent agency has been a strong performer these past two years after moving up from #41 in 2016.

Hakuhodo Tokyo’s performances over the past 12 months were not as strong as in previous years and as a result they dropped from #4 to #7 overall in Asia.

One of Asia’s most consistent award-winners, Ogilvy Singapore, is ranked at #8 this year. Previously #7 in 2017 and #2 in 2016.

#9 is BBH Singapore, who break into Asia’s Top 10 most awarded agency ranking for the first time. Previously #11 in 2017 and a lowly #85 in 2016.

#10 is BBDO Bangkok, who in 2018 didn’t enjoy the same level of great success at award shows as their previous 2 years. In the 2017 Creative Rankings BBDO Bangkok ranked #2 and in 2016 they were #5.

#11 is TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno Philippines who move up one place on 2017, after ranking #24 in 2016.

#12 is Ogilvy Tokyo, who make a big jump up from #16 last year.

Ranked at #13 is TBWA\Thailand. The agency was also ranked #13 last year after improving from #49 in 2016.

#14 is Cheil Worldwide Seoul. They held the #10 position last year.

After two great years in the Top 10 in Asia BBDO Mumbai drops a little to rank #15 this year.

Moving up the Creative Rankings is #16 placed GreynJ United Bangkok. Over the previous two Creative Rankings the agency has ranked #23 and #42 respectively.

At #17 in McCann Worldgroup Philippines who have experienced a stunning rise from #80 last year. In 2016 the agency was unranked with zero award wins.

#18 is Ogilvy Hong Kong. They have dropped from #14 last year, but will experience a big rise next year given the recent success of their KFC Hot & Spicy print and outdoor work.

CB Asia 2018 Rankings_Top20_CreativeDirectors.jpg#19 in Asia is another agency on a big rise – TBWA\Shanghai. In 2017 they ranked #53 and in 2016 they were placed #98.

#20 is consistent high performer ADK Taiwan.
