Moove Media creates larger than life 3D orchid mantis on buses for Wildlife Reserves Singapore

Mantis.jpgA larger-than-life orchid mantis perching “menacingly” on the rooftop of an SBS Transit bus could have been a scene out of Marvel’s Ant-man movie.

While it isn’t from a movie, the three-dimensional giant invertebrate is the latest that Moove Media has come up with for the Wildlife Reserves Singapore’s (WRS) “Land of Giants” exhibition that is on display now at the Singapore Zoo and River Safari until the end of December 2017. Known for its vibrant pink and white body that mimics parts of an orchid flower, the orchid mantis is one of 60 species that visitors can catch at the exhibition. Other larger-than-life displays include the river dung beetle and the Mekong giant catfish.

Mantis 2.jpgFor the 3D bus display, the super size flower mantis has been blown up about 1,000 times of the original. Made out of styrofoam and fibreglass, it took Moove Media about a month to complete five of them for display on SBS Transit services 55, 93, 64, 154 and 166. At 1.2m tall each, they are hard to miss.

This is exactly what Jayne Kwek, CEO of Moove Media, aimed to achieve. She said, “Super size 3D displays are not new to Moove Media. We have done giant carnation, rooster, Peranakan shoe and beer bottle on our buses for various clients as they are very eye-catching. It is only apt that we use a giant praying mantis for WRS’ larger-than-life exhibition, and to add it into our collection too.”
