#RideToReconnect, a second collaboration between R/GA Singapore and the ridesharing app, focuses on helping riders reach out to loved ones during the holy month, turning their travelling time into more meaningful moments. The initiative includes fitting selected cars in Singapore, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur with WiFi and tablets, allowing free audio and video calls anywhere in the world to be made during journeys.

“Ramadan is a time of reflection amid the pace and demands of everyday life,” said Eshan Ponnadurai, Director, Brand and Strategy APAC, Uber. “We wanted to create unexpected opportunities amidst the hustle and bustle to tap into the meaning of this month, and make it easier to reconnect with friends and family.”

The Uber app has also been updated with additional features including reminders to contact loved ones and notifications of Fajr and Maghrib timings. And, as Hari Raya Aidilfitri approaches, a microsite will be accessible from the app, allowing riders to send greetings to friends and family members using a range of bespoke gifs. The designs for the latter were commissioned from noted local illustrators in each market – Nur Aida Sai’ad (Singapore), Putri Febriana (Indonesia) and Azah Azreen (Malaysia).

“In transforming the way we get from A to B, Uber enables connections,” said R/GA Singapore ECD, Mark Tipper. “#RideToReconnect takes this idea a step further, helping riders connect at a deeper level by reaching out to those who aren’t within driving distance – something that’s especially meaningful during times of cultural or religious significance when we want to feel close to those we love.”
