India, Japan + Singapore leads Asia’s medal count at this year’s 64th Cannes Lions

OgilvySingapore_Lion.jpgBBH on Stage.jpgIndia, Japan and Japan were Asia’s leading performers at the conclusion of this year’s Cannes Lions Festival.

In total, across all 26 Cannes Lions categories, a total of 1471 Lions were handed out over the 8 nights of the Festival. The Asia region won a total of 155 Lions this year. Including Australia and New Zealand into the tally, the Asia Pacific region scored 293 Lions – 20% of all Lions awarded.

India put in a great performance this year and ranked #9 overall in the world with 40 Lions. Their performance was lead by McCann Worldgroup India with 15 Lions and Ogilvy & Mather with 9 Lions.

Japan was ranked #10 with 38 Lions.

Singapore’s strong performance this year saw them ranked at #11 with 32 Lions. BBH Singapore’s Nike Unlimited Stadium won 15 Lions and O&M Singapore’s “Pitching French Movies to Hollywood” campaign scored 5 Lions.

Thailand scored 18 Lions, followed by China with 13 Lions and Hong Kong with 8 Lions. Also Lion winners were The Philippines (3), Taiwan (2) and South Korea with 1 Lion.

Unfortunately Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Pakistan all failed to win a Lion.

The US ranked #1 in the world with a whopping 429 Lions, followed by the UK with 131 Lions and Australia with 113 Lions.

The Big 3 were followed by Brazil with 99 Lions, France with 88 Lions, Germany with 45 Lions, Canada with 43 Lions, Spain with 42 Lions, India with 40 Lions, Japan with 38 Lions, Singapore with 32 Lions, Argentina with 26 Lions, South Africa with 26 Lions, United Arab Emirates with 26 Lions and New Zealand with 25 Lions.

At the 2016 Cannes Lions Asia-Pacific picked up 263 Lions from the 1360 awarded worldwide. In 2015 the Asia-Pacific haul was 209 Lions.
