Fan.jpgWieden+Kennedy’s Selfie Stick Rental Shop is open from 27th March – 7th April between 9.30am-6.30pm at their Annex Gallery space, W+K+, in Nakameguro.

Hanami is the Japanese tradition of enjoying the blooming of the cherry blossom (known in Japan as ‘sakura’) and one of the biggest events of the year. In recent years it has become one of Japan’s ultimate selfie opportunities, popular with locals and tourists alike, who walk around beneath the blossom trees taking pictures and partying into the night.

Disco.jpgMirror.jpgLong.jpgOne of the best places to see the sakura is alongside the Meguro river where the Wieden+Kennedy gallery, W+K+, is located. It was this that inspired them to create the X-treme selfie sticks to celebrate the event, and they are encouraging people to share their pictures using the #SakuraSelfies hashtag.

Visitors to the shop can choose between four X-treme selfie sticks and rent them for free. The Windswept Selfie Stick, the Disco Selfie Stick, the Mirrored Selfie Stick, and the 4.5m Super Long Selfie Stick.

The Windswept Selfie Stick

Don’t we all dream of a #SakuraSelfie with the wind billowing through our hair like Kate Winslet on the front of the Titanic? Well now you can achieve it in every picture thanks to the Windswept Selfie Stick. Using a highly advanced air-blowing device (a fan), this selfie stick is guaranteed to give you lively, luscious hair. Unless you’re bald.

The Disco Selfie Stick

Everyone’s a party animal with the Disco Selfie Stick. It combines state of the art pyrotechnics (two red lights and a dangly disco ball) with a selfie stick in a subtle and easy to wear ensemble that will make you feel like a J-pop star in every snap. Add some glitter to give yourself some extra kawaii shimmer.

The Mirrored Selfie Stick

Always capture your favourite features with the Mirrored Selfie Stick. It magically seeks out your best and worst angles, from your gorgeous eyes to your splendid double

chin, displaying them all in a beautiful array of mirrors. If you can’t see it with this selfie stick, it isn’t worth showing off.

The Super Long Selfie Stick

Sure, it’s 4.5m long, but how else are you going to get that cool effect where the blossom frames your #SakuraSelfie? The Super Long Selfie Stick is perfect for getting in and amongst the branches of the cherry blossom trees and capturing selfies of you and your friends and strangers.
