Impact BBDO Dubai and Snickers take a guy back in time to prevent him making a hungry mistake

Snickers.jpgThis spot by Impact BBDO Dubai makes a leap from the usual Snickers format, taking the much loved campaign somewhere new. The story tells of Dani, a plucky average guy who travels back through time to prevent himself from making a hungry mistake – by giving himself the right Snickers bar needed to avert his unfortunate future.

Snickers 2.jpgThey figured, like anything in life, preventing something from happening in the first place is the best cure. With this idea, they’re saying to people to go grab a bar and avoid any unforeseen consequences your hungry behaviour might bring you… such as ending up marooned in an isolated research outpost in the South Pole.

 

Snickers 3.jpgExecutionally Impact BBDO did a few things differently in this brief than one might expect from the “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” franchise. Since the goal was all about getting people to give themselves and others the different hunger trait bars, it was important for them to make the central character and his ‘hunger trait’ as relatable as possible throughout, so they opted this time to not use any crazy characters. They also made the central pratagonist give himself the bar, as they felt it added another nice dimension to the platform – After all, no one knows who you become when you’re hungry better than you do!
