Singapore’s Crowbar Awards calls for winners to eat their 100% chocolate-made crowbar award

Crowbar PR_v2-02.jpgAwards can do a lot for you. They can help you attract admirers, open up new opportunities, and inspire you to do great work. But for young creatives, it can often be a case of too much, too soon. Many of them become complacent. Cocky, even. Losing their appetite for hard work and learning.

That’s why the folks behind Singapore’s Crowbar Awards, a student award show, are making their awards from 100% chocolate this year. They want the winners to ‘eat up, move on and stay hungry’. Michael Wee, Co-Organiser, explains, “Frankly speaking, there’s no point in keeping your Crowbar; yes it helps you pry open the doors of the biggest agencies; but once you’re in, all it does is take up space”.

crowbar website.jpgAccording to Co-Chair Khalid Osman, this year’s message is relevant not just to students, but to all creatives, including himself. “No matter what you’ve won, whether it’s the Crowbar, Cannes, Spikes, Clios or D&AD; the day you think you’ve made it is the day you choose not to achieve what more you could have,” says Osman, who is also a Creative Director at DDB Group Singapore.

“It’s more important than ever now to identify and nurture our young talent. At DDB we are big fans of the young bright things and support the Crowbar Awards wholeheartedly. And this year the Call of Entries that we have developed is extra special and reflects the way success work in real life,” Joji Jacob, Group Executive Creative Director at DDB Group Singapore added.

Students can choose from five categories to enter for: Advertising, Interactive, Design, Film and Photography. Each category consists of various sub-categories, including new ones for 2016, like Innovation and Digital Billboard.

Only the winners of Best of Category and Best of Show will receive the Chocolate Crowbar. But every award winner will receive a Crowbar Winner certificate.

The Crowbar Awards is organised by The Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of Singapore (4As). Entries close June 27. More details at crowbar.com.sg
