Curious executive producer Peter Grasse selected to present at Cannes Lions 2016

petergrasse_colour.jpegCurious executive producer, Peter Grasse, did it again at AdFest 2016. He hosted the talk that the event talked about most. Just like he did at Ciclope in 2014 (where he hosted the panel discussion Technology’s Toll: the Future of Film Craft in a Post-Digital Age and interviewed keynote speaker, Roman Coppola), the 2013 A-List Awards in Los Angeles, Adfest in Bangkok in 2012 and BEFest in Sydney last year.

Now Grasse is in the running to deliver the talk most talked about at Cannes.

Grasse has been chosen as one of Cannes Lions’ “speakers who define the creative ecosystem”. Those speakers include Sir Martin Sorrell, Maurice Levy, Bob Greenberg, David Droga, David Lubars, Gerry Graf, Mondelez global CMO Dana Anderson, Mars global CMO Bruce McColl, Unilever CMO Keith Weed, Timbaland and Anthony Bourdain.

Or as Cannes Lions puts it: “From game-changing thinkers and some of the biggest names in music and film to the advertising’s creative luminaries and legendary business leaders, everyone speaking during the Festival will inspire you to think differently about today’s most pressing issues.”

Here’s a little something to whet your appetite for Grasse’s talk, Production Value Redefined:

“It would be creatively contentious for a production company to talk about the benefits of downgrading production values for social media. This is an honest and engaging conversation that our industry needs to have, and is best initiated by the production companies themselves.

“Popular content on FaceBook is often cute, funny, or simply heartstring tuggers – rather than being big slick productions. Therefore, are production values only effective in cinema and to some extent TV? Or, does the term ‘production value’ need to be redefined in our digital age?

“To sweeten the punchline, and to prove production’s value, I will announce that…”

To hear the end of the story you will have to attend.
