Slide the city.jpgGO Communications has teamed up with events specialist Monkey Theory to bring the world’s largest urban waterslide phenomenon – ‘Slide the City’ to Malaysia. Since its 2013 debut in the United States, this global phenomenon has developed an almost cult-like following worldwide, having reached more than two million people in major cities worldwide including, Japan and Hong Kong.

‘Slide the City’ Malaysia will see a massive three-lane slip slide measuring 1000 feet line Lebuh Wadi Ehsan in Putrajaya on 5 and 6 December.

GO Communications is charged with all communications engagements duties leading up to and during the highly anticipated ‘Slide the City’ Malaysia, which incidentally will also be the first in South East Asia. It has come as no surprise that the event is nearly sold out leading up to the event’s launch on 17 November.

“This is truly something never seen before here in Malaysia. To have a giant slide longer than the length of three football fields on the streets of the country’s administrative capital – that’s truly remarkable. We are really excited to work with the enterprising talents at Monkey Theory to be part of making this global sensation debut in Malaysia a reality,” said Peter de Kretser, Chief Operating Officer of GO Communications.

The idea to bring ‘Slide the City’ to Malaysia was initiated by Monkey Theory, consisting of a group of eight aspiring young minds led by the able guidance of entrepreneur Leong Delon. Although young, Monkey Theory is not without experience, having successfully organised and implemented other notable events in the country.

Although designed to be a fun family-oriented event within a carnival-like atmosphere, ‘Slide the City’ Malaysia also champions a more serious, benevolent cause. A portion of the sales proceeds will be channelled towards National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Malaysia in support of patients suffering from kidney disease. Slide the City also aims to raise awareness of obesity, targeting a healthy lifestyle in a fun and engaging event in which the whole family can participate.

“The statistics are really staggering. In addition to the high prevalence of patients with Chronic Kidney Disease in Malaysia, our country has also registered the highest obesity rate in the world. This is part of what inspired us to bring ‘Slide the City to Malaysia’, to heed our

Government’s call to inculcate a healthy lifestyle and promoting physical activity while raising awareness of kidney disease and obesity in an exciting, family engaging environment,” said Delon.

Delon also mentioned that Monkey Theory has eight events in the pipeline for 2016 and that the GO – Monkey Theory partnership will continue through these events.
