Dentsu Sports Asia awarded Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore production + distribution

SCMS.jpgDentsu Sports Asia (DSA), the Singapore-based sports marketing subsidiary of Dentsu Inc., has been awarded the television production and global distribution contract for the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore (SCMS) for the period of 2014 to 2016.  It is the first time an agency has been awarded the production and distribution rights for a period of three years, after a competitive tender process.

The SCMS is the nation’s second biggest annual sporting event, only behind the Singapore stage of the Formula One Grand Prix.  It also boasts IAAF Gold Label status, placing it alongside other major international road races such as the New York City Marathon, Berlin Marathon and London Marathon.  This year’s edition features an elite field of marathoners headlined by long distance running legend Haile Gebrselassie and has over 53,000 runners taking part.

In August 2014, Dentsu added further Asian focused television content to its rights holders of the region for the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. Three weeks ago, DSA produced the international television production of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship Football tournament in Vietnam.  In December the SCMS project and the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco will be the agency’s third and fourth major TV production projects inside this busy four-month period.
