China leads the way with 26 of Asia’s 62 shortlists in Cannes Press Lions: 15 shortlists to Y&R Beijing + 10 shortlists to BBDO Singapore
Following on from their impressive performance in Outdoor, China has recorded 26 shortlists in the Press Lions, to lead the way for Asia.
In total 62 entries form Asia made the shortlist.
China’s 26 finalists was followed by Singapore with 10, Thailand, Vietnam and The Philippines all have 6 shortlists each, followed by Vietnam and Malaysia with 3. Indonesia recorded 2 shortlists.
Out of China’s 26 shortlists Y&R Beijing received 15 – all for their Penguin Audio Books “Mic” print campaign (pictured). Lowe Shanghai has 8 shortlists all for Shanghai General Motors – Buick; Grey Group Beijing has 2 shortlists for NBTY Trading, and King Harvest MSL Shanghai has 1 shotlist for 3M’s Napoleon.
BBDO and Proximity Singapore were the only agency in Singapore to make the cut. All 10 shortlists are for their Asia Pacific Breweries Guinness campaign (pictured left).
Grey Worldwide India picked up 3 shortlists for Duracell Batteries and JWT Mumbai 3 for their campaign for security company Godrej.
Lowe Manila were the only Philippines agency to figure – their 6 shortlists were for their ‘Plastic Kids, Plastic Grandma, Plastic Dues’ campaign for SM Eco Bag.
Ogilvy & Mather Bangkok scored 6 shortlists – 3 for Accident Prevention Network, 2 for Amway SA8 and a single shortlist for Drinkologist Coffee 24. No other Thai agency made the cut.
TBWA Kuala Lumpur netted 3 shortlists; Lowe Vietnam also had 3; and JWT Jakarta had 2 shortlists.
5007 entries from 72 countries were entered into Press category at the Cannes Lions this year. Jury president is Rémi Babinet Founder and Creative Director BETC Paris. On the jury from Asia are Alvin Lim (FCB China), Malvika Mehra (Grey India), Maurice Wee (BBH Singapore), and Damisa Ongsiriwattana (JWT Bangkok). China submitted 178 entries into Press – India 152 entries, Thailand 144 and Singapore 129.
The Press Lions trophies will be presented during the Cyber, Design, Product Design, Press and Radio Lions Awards Ceremony, which will take place on Wednesday evening 18 June in the Grand Auditorium, Palais des Festivals.
