Steve and Micah1.jpgMicah Walker has chosen internationally renowned film director Steve Rogers as his guest on the latest episode of The Creative Relay podcast.

Having worked with Rogers on some of his most awarded campaigns including James Boag’s ‘Pure Waters’, Walker was eager to sit down and listen to the director’s thoughts on film making and ideas.

Says Walker: “I realised I’ve shot with Steve more than any other director in the world, so I curious to hear his point of view on working with agencies.”

Collaboration is a major theme of the episode, with Rogers sharing his love for what he does and his approach to commercial film-making.

Says Walker: “The single greatest joy of filmmaking is that it’s a collaborative art. The act of working together on something makes it better.”

The podcast reveals that having achieved international recognition for his work on brands including Nike, Old Spice and the recent “Dundee” campaign for Tourism Australia, Rogers credits instinct over expertise for his success.

Says Rogers: “Because I don’t have a clue what I’m doing, I rely a lot on instinct. The more you rely on that the more it gives things a particular point of view.”

steve micah and paul.jpgFor podcast host Paul Dunne, Rogers was an inspired choice from Walker.

Says Dunne: “Steve is our first guest from outside the agency bubble. And his perspective on how we operate – or perhaps should operate – was worth hearing.”

For Dan Higson from Smith and Western, creator and producer of The Creative Relay, the deviation comes at an interesting time for the popular podcast series.

Says Higson: “We’re now getting thousands and thousands of listens – so we want to make sure we’re always giving our existing audience something new and broadening our appeal at the same time. We’ve got some exciting things in store.”
