919 Hybrid.jpgPorsche announced recently that it was retiring the 919 Hybrid from the circuit. In true Porsche style, the sports car manufacturer organized a global tribute tour for this iconic racing legend with a total of 13 stops around the world.

Bangkok, whose name means ‘the great city of immortals’ in Thai, was aptly selected as the only destination in Southeast Asia for the 919 Hybrid, which itself was immortalized in the World Endurance Championship with 20 pole positions, 17 race victories, 6 World Championship titles, and 3 Le Mans victories all achieved within a remarkable four years. To commemorate part of its global swansong, Porsche Asia Pacific has released a new film that captured the legendary 919 Hybrid taking on the lively streets of Bangkok.

919 Hybrid2.jpg919 Hybrid4.jpgThe 99-seconds film begins with various scenes of Thai residents getting on with their everyday life while the three-time Le Mans winning car drives through alleyways and side streets, evoking a sense of mystery and intrigue. The 919 Hybrid is then seen cruising along the busy streets of Bangkok’s vibrant Chinatown and other parts of the city capturing the attention of the crowd, before eventually accelerating on the architectural wonder that is the Rama VIII Bridge which spans across the Chao Phraya River. The unexpected sight of the 919 Hybrid in an unfamiliar environment is reflected by a myriad of candid reactions, resulting in palpable fascination wherever it goes. One of the significant moments in the film is a cameo appearance made by the double Le Mans winner, Earl Bamber. He has multiple wins under his belt including victories at the WEC as well as the 2017 Le Mans 24 Hours, which saw him make the 919 Hybrid a true legend after the secured hat-trick.

Released on 16th August 2018, the film has since garnered attention from all around the globe and making headlines on social media as well as the global press. The film was the brainchild of Porsche Asia Pacific and its lead agency, Keko Singapore. The agency worked with The Prosecution Film Company to produce this film.
