Cheil Worldwide's global CCO Malcolm Poynton to chair 2018 Asia Pacific Tambuli Awards jury

Malcom Poynton.jpgThe Asia Pacific Tambuli Awards has named Malcolm Poynton, Global Chief Creative Officer Cheil Worldwide, as the Overall Jury Chairman for 2018. The Tambuli Awards announced their call for entries yesterday.

The pioneer award show globally that honors brands that do good and do well, the APAC Tambuli Awards celebrates brands that show the seamless integration of creativity + human good + results. Case study entries must demonstrate how brands uplift society, create positive change, and correlate purpose with purchase.

The APAC Tambuli Awards is not an award on charity, advocacy, pro bono, or CSR advertising, even if those campaigns are welcome and encouraged to enter. The award, however, focuses on mainstream brand campaigns that celebrate humanity, inspire purpose, and deliver results.

Poynton (pictured above) said: "We live on what the American astrologist Carl Sagan referred to as 'The Pale Blue Dot'. This name came from the image captured in 1990 when Sagan turned Voyager 1 around to snap a shot of Earth from deep space. It revealed a canvas of blackness with a single less-than-a-pixel-sized-dot of pale blue, which puts our reality into perspective.
"This image reminds me constantly of the need for all of us to ensure the brands we work with contribute positively towards the planet. If they don't, we're all screwed. Consequently, it's a privilege to lead the Tambuli Awards jury in seeking out and celebrating brands that are doing good. I hope these will inspire and be a catalyst for others to do better."

Poynton joined Cheil Worldwide at the beginning of 2015 as the network's Global Chief Creative Officer.  Having led teams responsible for award-winning firsts as diverse as Foot Locker's Sneakerpedia, Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty and British Airways' Johnny Foreigner campaign, Malcolm is a recognised industry influencer and speaker, passionate about helping brands make positive a contribution to the world.

Tambule CFE_2018 logo.jpgTwo times Cannes Jury President, he was recently named one of AdAge magazine's 'World Top 10 Digital Minds' and names by TechCity insider as one of the UK's leading Digital innovators.

Under Poynton's creative leadership, Cheil Worldwide has emerged as one of the world's leading creative networks in the Gunn Report, helping Samsung win Marketer of the Year titles at both Cannes Lions, EPICA and AdFest.  Prior to joining Cheil, he was a member of Sapient's global leadership team and served as SapientNitro's first European Chief Creative Officer.  M&C Saatchi, Saatchi & Saatchi, Ogilvy and SapientNitro have all won Agency of the Year titles during his creative leadership.

Deadline for submission of entries to Tambuli is on March 28, 2018. The complete list of categories and entry form are available at www.tambuliawards.asia. For inquiries, email carla.estanislao@uap.asia.
