Asia scores 12 finalists at the shortlist stage of 2017 International ANDY Awards

wwf_iceberg.jpgThe International ANDY Awards, which are hosted by The Advertising Club of New York, today released the list of 2017 finalists.  As the first major international advertising award show of the season, The ANDYs are often a predictor of award season favorites. This year’s finalists show an equal split of nominees coming from the U.S.A. and areas around the globe including Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, Canada, and South America.

Asia has scored 12 finalists with two nominations going to both Leo Burnett Group Manila for WWF Philippines’ “Iceberg Campaign” and Tohokushinsha Film Corporation’s “Gravity Cat” for Sony Interactive Entertainment Tokyo.

Aerial 2.jpgHero Shot Avatars.jpgDick the Dog.jpgThe following Asian agencies have received one nomination each: BBDO India for “Dads #ShareTheLoad” for P&G India, BBH Communications Asia Pacific for Nike Singapore’s “Unlimited Stadium“, Beacon/Leo Burnett Tokyo for Railway Company + Yokohama Station Building’s “Delicious Supplement“, J. Walter Thompson Bangkok for Thai Samsung Electronics/ Thai Association of The Blind’s “Touchable Ink“, McCann Worldgroup India for “The Dancing Letters” for the Maharastra Dyslexia Association, Ogilvy & Mather Group Hong Kong for “Dick the Dog” for MTV Staying Alive Foundation and The Leo Burnett Group Thailand for “Thank you for sharing” for the Total Access Communication Public Company Limited.

Finalists are eligible to win Bronze, Silver and Gold ANDY Awards. ANDY Award winners also compete for the ANDYs highest honor The Grandy, which includes a $50,000 cash prize. All public service Gold ANDY winners are eligible for the Richard T. O’Reilly Award for Outstanding Public Service advertising, known as the “Grandy for Good,” which includes a $10,000 donation to the winning charity. All Gold ANDY winners are considered for the annual Bravery award recognizing the marketer for their courage and allowing for courageous ideas to help evolve the advertising industry. There is also a student winner awarded a $10,000 scholarship. The winners of these and other categories will be chosen from this year’s finalists, and awarded during April, 2017.

The ANDYs Jury was led by North American chief creative officer Pete Favat of Deutsch and 23 of the global advertising community’s most highly-awarded creative directors from the world’s most creative advertising organizations including: Anomaly, Shanghai; Lola MullenLowe Madrid; Jung von Matt, Hamburg; AlmapBBDO, Sao Paulo; and JWT India.
