Australasian production company Eight appoints Daniel Higgins to the position of general manager

DH v1 (1).jpgEight has further bolstered its executive team with the appointment of producer Daniel Higgins to the role of general manager.

Higgins will work alongside managing director and executive producer, Katie Millington to assist in further developing the business both locally and internationally.
Says Higgins: "I'd been looking for my next challenge and I've found it at Eight. The calibre of directing talent, from seasoned pro's to rising stars and the incredible in-house producing team is absolutely world class. I can't wait to grab 2017 by the balls and help Katie take Eight to the next level."

With a decade of production company experience and a genuine love for the industry, Higgins brings with him strong business acumen. Although taking on more of a business role, Higgins will continue to produce for Eight.

Says Higgins: "I love producing and working with creative and client, so it's awesome I can continue this at Eight. Rest assured I will still be around and available for any pressing business-related lunching requirements."

Says Millington: "Get your hand off it Dan. Anyway. Dan's networking prowess and ultimate staying power got my attention in Cannes last year. Our business has grown up and out at great speed over the past five years, so I've been looking for a producer with an entrepreneurial mindset to join me at upper management level for some time. I've always really liked Dan's vibe; he's ambitious, clever and his energy and positivity will no doubt be a great asset to us."

With offices in both Australia and New Zealand, Higgins is the latest acquisition in a swag of new hires and promotions, including Anna Kennedy's appointment as EP, New Zealand and Lib Kelly's promotion to EP, Australia. Producer Nick Kelly has also recently joined the Australian production team. In addition, Eight has today announced plans to ramp up its Line Production services and has some exciting international partnerships in the works.

Says Millington: "We're incredibly proud of the executive team we've assembled. They're a bunch of talented, creative producers with a shared vision for the future of our business."
