The End.jpgMedulla Communications Mumbai has put in a very strong showing in the Cannes Health Pharma Lions category picking up 2 Gold Lions along with 2 Silver and 3 Bronze. The Pharma Lions were presented in Cannes just moments ago with a total of 58 Lions handed out in the category.

Medulla Communications Mumbai picked up 2 of Asia’s total of 3 Gold Lions, with McCann Health in Hong Kong also awarded Gold.

The Indian Association of Palliative Care’s “Last Words” campaign won both of Medulla Communications Mumbai’s Gold Lions, along with a Silver Lion. The agency backed this up with a Silver and Bronze Lion for their Zentel “Slums For Worms” campaign. Medulla’s other 2 Bronze Lions were for J&J Concerta “ADHD Stmptom Stamps”. This strong performance saw the agency named Healthcare Agency of the Year.

McCann Health Hong Kong won craft Gold for the Illustration of their Pfizer Xalatan print and Poster campaign. They also picked up a Bronze Lion for Priligy “J-J Man”.

Code Word.jpgMultiple Lion winners were J. Walter Thompson Hong Kong with a Silver and Bronze for Canesten “The Code Word” and Dentsu Tokyo, who won 2 Bronze Lions for Geriatric Health Services Facility Hitorizawa “Ton-Ton Voice Sumo”.

Leo Burnett Bangkok, Dentsu Y&R Tokyo, HS Ad Seoul and Toppan Printing Japan all won single Bronze Lions.

Asia’s Lion haul from the Pharma Lions category is 3 Gold; 3 Silver and 11 Bronze. From 582 entries submitted in the Pharma section, 52 Lions were awarded and Ogilvy & Mather London’s “Breathless Choir” for Philips claimed the Grand Prix. The film highlights the medical innovations in Philips products and was unveiled on World COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) Day. Ogilvy & Mather London brought together a collection of eighteen strangers all living with chronic respiratory conditions, to work with a choirmaster to learn how to sing again. Breathless Choir also won 2 Gold Lions in the Health & Wellness category.

Jury President, Alexandra von Plato, Group President of Publicis Healthcare Communications Group, described the campaign as one that challenges the traditional ‘product as hero’ approach to focus on ‘patient as hero’. “It’s a stunning example of cinematic storytelling in the medical devices industry and clearly breaks the mould,” she said.

The Healthcare Agency of the Year was awarded to Medulla Communications, Mumbai, second to Langland, Windsor and third to McCann Health, Hong Kong. And Healthcare Network of the Year went to McCann Health, second to Publicis Healthcare Communications Group and third to Ogilvy Commonhealth Worldwide.

Commenting on the results, Lions Health Festival Director, Louise Benson, said, “We’re delighted to reward and celebrate the ground-breaking work providing a benchmark of excellence in the healthcare communications industry. Now in its third year, Lions Health is an arena to recognise achievements and we would like to thank the jury for collectively selecting our 2016 winners.”

Lion Health also encompasses a two-day Festival of content, learning and debate and this year.
