homepage.images_07 (1).jpgThe Girls’ Lounge, a collaborative industry movement working to advance equality and equal opportunity in the workplace, today announced that they will have a Girls’ Lounge at Cannes Lions 2016, in The Martinez Hotel, for the fourth year running.

Offering a haven for women at Cannes, The Girls’ Lounge will be hosting exclusive networking events, powerful dialogues, and unplugged conversations around leadership, equality and advancing women in the workplace.

Continually collaborating with a powerful array of partners, including Facebook, NBCUniversal, L’Oreal, IPG, POPSUGAR, VISA, Google, Ipsos, AOL, Time Inc., The New York Times, Kargo, Unilever, IBMiX, Twitter, MAKERS, MediaLink, and Bloomberg, The Girls’ Lounge brings people and companies together to ensure next steps are taken around gender equality. We need to stop admiring the problem and walk the talk. At Cannes Lions, industry leaders will discuss solutions around the lack of visibility and pay equality for women in advertising, media, entertainment and sports. Participants will include C-suite executives, celebrities, comedians, and professional athletes.

Says Shelley Zalis, CEO and founder of The Girls’ Lounge: “Championing gender diversity and equal opportunity, we’ve been collaborating closely with our partners, and the response and willingness for change has been phenomenal. However, at The Girls’ Lounge, we know change does not happen alone, so we’re thrilled to be joined by such an impressive array of brilliant minds at this year’s Cannes Lions to really push the agenda. As our partners recognise, equality is an economic and social issue, and we all know that diversity is good for business.”

The Girls’ Lounge @ Cannes schedule kicks off on Monday, 20 June (2:30PM CET), with a conversation on equal pay in sports with FIFA Women’s World Cup champions, Abby Wambach and Mia Hamm, followed by ‘The Power of Teamwork’ soccer game (3:30PM CET) on The Martinez Beach. Following that, on Monday evening, The Girls’ Lounge will host the first ever girls only dinner at Cannes Lions.

On Tuesday (1.00 pm, CET), The Girls’ Lounge in partnership with NBCUniversal, will be on the Cannes Lions Main Stage with a live-streamed1 panel, Gender Equality Is No Laughing Matter, with female comedic actors from hit US show, Saturday Night Live and Linda Yaccarino, NBCUniversal’s Chairman of Advertising Sales and Client Partnerships. The panelists will take a strong but light-hearted look at the importance of representing women authentically in the media.

The Girls’ Lounge, recognised for its social impact, has been chosen to be part of Unilever’s Foundry 50, which celebrates the top 50 start-ups that are innovating how brands connect, engage and relate to their customers. The Girls’ Lounge will participate and showcase the Lounge on the Lions Innovation show floor Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

The seminar will be streamed on Tuesday, 21 June at 1pm CET via the official Cannes Lion YouTube channel – https://www.youtube.com/canneslions.
