David Xiao (pictured centre) joins the team as Executive Director of Strategy and Innovation, with over 15 years of experience in consumer insights and strategic planning. Originally from a research background in companies such as Synovate and TNS, Xiao then went client-side to understand how consumer insights could be applied to brand building, innovation and ultimately driving business growth. At Diageo he worked on exciting brands like Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff and Baileys, while at Johnson & Johnson he worked with the innovation team, identifying white space opportunities for emerging markets. Prior to joining Anomaly, Xiao worked at BBDO as Head of Strategy at Shanghai, where he lead the Shanghai planning team working on various brands including Bayer, Johnson and Johnson, The North Face, Fonterra and Bacardi.

Prior to working in mainland China, Chan held a number of both agency and marketing positions in Taiwan, including JTI (Japan Tobacco International) Ogilvy Action, Irina and Siemens. Chan joins Anomaly as a Business Director.

Aroma Xie (left) has over 10 years experience working in fashion media. After rising from intern to Features Editor at Vogue, Xie switched to Modern Media in 2010 where she became Fashion Features Director of Modern Weekly, in charge of print and digital fashion features stories. Xie brings a deep understanding of the fashion, influencer and media landscape in China. At Anomaly, she will oversee the company’s IP platform The Unreasonable, which has grown to tens of thousands of WeChat following and multiple partnerships, most recently with the newly opened Shanghai Village, a luxury outlet shopping destination adjacent to the Shanghai Disney Resort. As a Cultural Curator, Xie will continue to foster the agency’s connections to the broader cultural community.

“We are excited about the new dimensions that these hires bring to our team,” said Eric Lee, CEO and Partner at Anomaly Shanghai, “They will enable us and our clients to continue to push for ever more innovative solutions to business problems”.
