sgmoji_blur_like_sotong.jpgResourcefulness, creativity, innovation, a never-say-die attitude – these are the ingredients to Singapore’s success in transforming from a fishing village to a financial powerhouse in just 50 years. At the heart of championing this spirit; is its people.

Leading up to National Day and the grand festivities that will mark the nation’s jubilee year, BBDO Singapore celebrates its host nation’s 50th with an initiative that celebrates Singaporeans and their unique unifying identifier: Singlish.

sgmoji_bo_jio.jpgIntroducing SGMOJI, a guide on how to use the universal language of Emojis; to expertly navigate through Singapore’s unofficial national language and local expressions in this smartphone messaging – obsessed time (Read: Whatsapp, SnapChat, LINE, iMessaging).

Inspired by the simple insight of Singaporeans’ efficiencies in everyday communications through abbreviations and acronyms (CTE – Central Expressway, NP – No problem, CMI – Cannot Make It),

SGMOJI encourages Singaporeans to indulge in their favorite local expressions and exclamations; while inviting visitors to not be “blur-like-sotong” and join in the “talk-cock” banter!

Meanwhile, BBDO Singapore has applied as an organisation through the SG50 Celebration Fund in hope of producing actual guides for mass circulation nation-wide!
