Help the Jobless Happiness Saigon.jpgHappiness Saigon, the “Everything and Everyone is Media” agency in Asia, has unveiled “Help the Jobless”, a campaign to bring together copywriting talent and unemployed people in Vietnam to help each other find new career opportunities.

Vietnam has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the world and yet over 1.9 million people are still looking for work. On the other hand the fast growth of advertising and communications agencies in the market means agencies are seeking top copywriting and creative talent to fill positions that remain vacant.

Help the Jobless 2 Happiness Saigon.jpg“Help the Jobless” gives aspiring copywriters the opportunity to prove the effectiveness of their writing skills by creating standout copy that sells actual jobless people to potential employers – arguably one the toughest writing briefs possible. The best writer will win a job as a copywriter at an international advertising agency in Vietnam.

Seven jobseekers have been profiled on the campaign portal where copywriters can read about their skills, personality and experience and watch a short video before selecting the candidate to write for.

There is no set format for the copywriters to follow, allowing them complete freedom to create their own attention-grabbing strategies, according to the target employers and the personality of the person seeking new work.

The jobseeker receives all submissions and selects the one that most inspires him or her to use in their search for work. When a jobseeker favourites a covering letter it is entered into a shortlist to be judged by a panel of 7 top agency creative and media directors operating in Vietnam.

The best twenty writers will be invited to an exclusive Masterclass in Copywriting to in turn help advance their own professional copywriting careers. This will be held in Saigon on May 23rd where the writer who is judged to be top of the class will be awarded the copywriting job.

Shortly after the “Help The Jobless” site went live 72 covering letters had already been submitted and this continues to increase daily. Interestingly, the candidate to receive the most submissions so far is the oldest candidate, 55-year old Nguyen Phuoc Hai.

The campaign will run until 7th May 2015.
