BBDO Pakistan and Ogilvy & Mather Vietnam sole One Show Pencil winners for their country

BBDO Pakistan has continued to win accolades at the world’s top international award shows with their Reprieve Foundation for Human Rights “Not a Bug Splat” campaign picking up 2 Silver and 1 Bronze Pencil at the 2015 One Show Awards. The campaign won in Design and in Print & Outdoor for Public Service and Innovation.

In military slang, Predator drone operators often refer to kills as ‘bug splats’, since viewing the body through a grainy video image gives the sense of an insect being crushed.

To challenge this insensitivity as well as raise awareness of civilian casualties, an artist collective installed a massive portrait facing up in the heavily bombed Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa region of Pakistan, where drone attacks regularly occur. Now, when viewed by a drone camera, what an operator sees on his screen is not an anonymous dot on the landscape, but an innocent child victim’s face.

And also continuing their good form at awards shows, Ogilvy & Mather were the only agency from Vietnam collecting a Bronze pencil for the Lien Foundation’s “Take the final Bow” campaign. It won in the Print & Outdoor – Print Craft: Writing category.
