Asia scores 13 Pencils in the D&AD Crafts for Design category: Japan leads with five

JUDAS.jpgFollowing the first day of judging at the D&AD awards 43 Pencils have been awarded in the Crafts for Design category, including thirteen to Asia. Japan leads the way with 5, followed by China with 3, Hong Kong and India with two each and Singapore one. Agencies have to wait until the D&AD Awards on 21 May to find out which colour Pencil they have been awarded.

Hakuhodo leads Japan’s tally with INFAS Publications’ “City Scape” and “Makoto Azuma: Botanist/Flower Artist.” Other Pencils awarded to Japan are Dentsu’s “Get Back, Tohoku” for East Japan Railway Company, Shirokuro’s “Unsigned” for TaitoCity and Tymote’s “Message: for Issey Miyake Inc.

Words can be Weapons_Weapons Case_resized.jpgPetroleum.jpgChina’s three Pencils were awarded to Ogilvy & Mather Beijing’s “Words Can Be Weapons” campaign for the Centre of Psychological Research Shenyang, Publicis Shanghai for their “Petroleum Hurt” work for Green Peace and Y&R Beijing for the Penguin Audiobooks “MIC” campaign.

Hong Kong’s Pencils were awarded to Colegate Palmolive’s “Turning Packing into Educaion” and Cheil’s “Judas” (pictured top) for Stabilo.

India’s Pencil’s were for Ogilvy & Mather’s “Surfi Roack” for Pernod Ricard and MeCann’s “Fruits” campaign for Perfetti Van Melle.

Kinetic Singapore has picked up a Pencil for Holycrap.sg’s “Rubbish Famzine. For Ever and a Day”.
