The Padma Awards are India’s second-highest civilian honors bestowed by the Indian government. These awards are announced every year concurrent with India’s Republic Day, which this year also coincided with U.S. President Barack Obama’s visit to India to sit as the commemoration’s honored Chief Guest alongside Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.

Harris Diamond, CEO of McCann Worldgroup, said: “This award is another amazing honor for the man who leads our agencies in India  and our entire network in Asia-Pacific. Prasoon’s unique combination of talents and passion for excellence inspires everyone, from our own staff to our clients, to pursue their most creative and innovative ideas.”

Joshi joins an elite group of citizens for their contributions to Indian and global progress. The winners include spiritual leaders, philanthropists, scientists, artists, writers, actors, business leaders and other notables. The list also includes some selected dignitaries from outside of India, including Microsoft founder Bill Gates

The Padma Awards cited Joshi’s cultural contributions to poetry, film and communications. In addition to his renown in India for advertising creativity and for his political advertising efforts, Joshi is a noted songwriter and lyricist in India’s extensive music and film industries.
