Seven Sunday Films and Leo Burnett Jakarta combine on new campaign for Pop Mie Noodles

Pop Mie.jpgSeven Sunday Films’ director Simont Phang’s has just completed a new commercial for Pop Mie Noodles, via Leo Burnett Jakarta.

Shot in Jakarta Old Town, the commercial is a play on the Indonesian in-joke of describing unlikely occurrences as being “dari Hong Kong”, or being “from Hong Kong”, as that’s generally considered to be too far away to have any influence on everyday life.

The script revolves around three teenagers out for a bike ride who stop for a quick bite; two opt for the tasty and convenient snack of Pop Mie so they’ll be ready to meet pretty girls (just in case, naturally), while the third scornfully rubbishes their dreams of meetings girls as “Girls from Hong Kong”.

As fate would have it as the two boys finish their Pop Mie two cute girls asking for help with directions approach them. The boys enquire as to where the girls are from, and the girls reply, “we’re from Hong Kong”!

The director of photography is German import Sven Lippold.
