markgarratt_1304423978_42.jpgDD8 has announced that Singapore-based creative director Mark Garratt is joining its team as of January 2015.

Garratt will be based at DD8’s new Singapore office, and will use his many years of local knowledge to expand the company’s scope throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Garratt comes to DD8 from his role as director, creative services for Fox International Channels – Fox Sports.

Originally from the UK, Garratt started out at Trans World International (IMG Media), and followed with a two-year stint at Granada Media Group. Widely recognised for his talent in sports branding in the UK, he moved to Singapore in 2000 to help launch ESPN SportsCenter to a South East Asia audience.

As creative director for ESPN STAR Sports Garratt launched countless shows on the channels (ESPN, STAR Sports, STAR Cricket), leading teams of designers, 3d artists and craft editors in the creation of opening titles, in-show graphics, studio design, promos, print and digital media.

Garratt has worked with globally recognised sports brands such as the Barclays Premier League, ICC, Formula 1, Wimbledon and the Australian Open. When ESS became Fox Sports in August 2014 Garratt was a major part of the rebrand team, responsible for implementing a new promo toolkit and designing on-screen graphics, touchscreen applications and studio elements realised by Deltatre as part of a large VIZrt integration into a new facility in Singapore.

Says Adam Duncombe, EP, DD8: “We are thrilled that Mark has joined DD8. His addition sees us set up a firm base in South East Asia. Mark’s experience working within this market, along with his obvious creative talent, is the perfect fit for our rapidly expanding company.

“Creatively this is a very exciting move. Mark’s experience, skills and knowledge of the television industry, in particular in the Asia Pacific region, are of the top calibre. With Jeremy Hancock and now Mark on board as DD8 Creative Directors, it gives our clients access to a wealth of creative experience.”

Says Garratt: “Joining DD8 as they expand in to SEA is a great opportunity, I’m excited at the prospect of producing my greatest work as part of this unique creative company.”
