Saatchi & Saatchi China hosts New Directors’ Showcase screening at ROI Festival in Shanghai

Each year Saatchi & Saatchi’s Worldwide Creative Board, this year headed up by Worldwide Creative Director Pablo Del Campo, sift th   The NDS has earned a well-deserved reputation for spotting directing talent at an early stage, and established directors including Michel Gondry, Spike Jonze and Tarsem are just some of the big names who were featured in the NDS early on in their careers. Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors’ Showcase (NDS) is premiered annually at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, and brings together in the form of a Showreel, a selection of some of the best new directing talent from around the world.  This year is the 24th NDS since 1991, and 2015 will mark a quarter century of this important event on the advertising calendar.

The NDS is always one of the most well attended events at Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, and for the 2nd consecutive year the Showreel has premiered in Cannes before setting off on a global tour.  This year there have been NDS screenings since the Cannes premiere in Geneva, London, Los Angeles, Milan, Moscow, New York and Spikes Asia.

The 24th edition of the NDS premiered at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity on 19th June, with a live show wrapped around the theme #feelthereel.  This year the Showreel has a typically eclectic mix of music videos, animated shorts, humor, erotica, surrealism and the grotesque.  An audience of 2,300 in Cannes were given sensory wristbands created by Studio XO to measure their emotional reaction to the reel they were shown.   

The NDS 2014 Showreel will be screened for the first time in China at the ROI Festival in Shanghai on 21 October.  During the ROI Festival screening Michael Lee (CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Greater China) and Fan Ng (CCO of Saatchi & Saatchi Shanghai) will discuss the world’s latest creative trends with the audience.
