Following closely on the heels of Jacco ter Schegget’s appointment as President of OgilvyOne China six months ago, the agency welcomes two strong, local leaders to its senior management team. 10-year Ogilvy & Mather (O&M) veteran Lily Tung has been promoted to Managing Director of OgilvyOne Beijing and the former head of Acxiom Allen Xu has been named Managing Director of OgilvyOne Shanghai, both effective immediately.

“In my commitment to take OgilvyOne to the next level in China, I am pleased to announce the appointments of two of the highest performers in our industry,” says ter Schegget. “Both Lily and Allen have extraordinary track records in creatively delivering effective solutions. Lily’s business experience in leading a diverse range of consumer brands coupled with Allen’s passion for customer engagement and big data are a powerful combination that will drive our sector to new heights.”

A native Chinese educated in Hong Kong and at Harvard Business School, Tung (pictured left) has 10 years under her belt at O&M alone and a breadth of digital marketing experience that spans China and Singapore. Under Tung’s watch, her team brought home the first-ever ECHO Gold creative award for a Chinese agency.

“Marketing communications is shifting at a rapid pace due to technology and big data. In this new era, my mission is clear – to cultivate our skills and talent and strengthen our creative customer engagement capabilities to become better business partners for clients. I am excited to lead alongside Jacco and Allen, and ready to drive the changes we envision for OgilvyOne,” says Tung.

Tung succeeds Daniel Tao, who rejoined OgilvyOne Beijing in 2011 and has taken up the role of Executive Vice President of O&M Guangzhou.

Xu (pictured right) is also a Chinese native, with an MBA degree from Northwestern University and more than 15 years spent on business management roles for consulting and technology services as well as hands-on entrepreneurial experience. Xu revels in campaigns in which the sciences intersect with art to create brand impact and deliver business results. His expertise lies in customer engagement and mining valuable business insights from big data. As the former Managing Director of Acxiom China, Xu quadrupled the consumer marketing technology company’s revenue in five years.

“While my expertise is in consumer management, big-data analysis and digital solutions, I am passionate about right-brain imagination. This is why I am so thrilled to join OgilvyOne. It’s a digital and customer engagement agency with one of the world’s richest creative legacies. Working closely with Jacco and Lily, I am confident we will continue to build deeper connections with consumers using data, social and commerce, but always with originality at the core,” said Xu.

Xu succeeds Billboard Kwok, who has departed. the agency to pursue a career as an independent consultant
