Not the most exciting list of jury members is it?
With Cannes just over, what’s the point of Spikes Asia?
It’s just like faking excitement about the Asian Cup, right after the World Cup.
A second chance for Cannes finalist to compete against a small field?
A consolation for not-ready-for-cannes judges?
It’s not just agencies are flushed with money.
Expectation is low, just look at this very weak “also-ran” lineup, except for Ted Toyer.
Spikes is now more for the suits and management and junior clients. The talks are less creative focus and the juries are all politically based appointments. Last year I only went to the award show, and that was terrible. I’ve not been to adfest lately but to me that is the one for creatives.
I’d rather have relatively unknown but credible industry people judge awards than a mutual admiration scammers society.
But these aren’t exactly credible.
Aside from the ever lovable Royer, a lot of 3rd rate names from 2nd rate agencies.
I will reserve my comments on this jury until they’ve had a chance to vote on my work.
Stefan Sagmeister is a “3rd rate name from a 2nd rate agency?”
He’s Snoopy-level, bro. Say out in the desert, OK?
