Fin Design + Effects creates network of neurons in Mazda 6 spot via Saatchi & Saatchi Beijing

HERO_VIMEO.jpgFin Design + Effects Sydney has been commissioned by Glowy films (Shanghai) and top Argentinian director Diego Pernia to design, direct and visualize a 30 second animation to showcase the launch of the new Mazda 6 Atenza into the Chinese market for Saatchi & Saatchi, Beijing.

The story follows the birth of a neuron that branches out connecting with other neurons to create a network of pulsing energy. Neuron “synapses” burst forth, mapping out the key components of the Mazda 6. This journey continues onwards until both driver and Mazda 6 connect as one.

The main challenge of this project was the custom development of the neuron effect that grows to build the Mazda 6. Three weeks of research and development was taken in order to develop the specific behaviour of the branching neurons.

The entire commercial is one long camera move without any edits or transitions over the 30-second duration.  The development of a CG camera by our highly skilled 3D team allowed the shot to flow naturally and seamlessly, from the macro world of a neuron within the car’s interior to the exterior of the car driving past the camera.

Says Pernia: “Fin Design+Effects interpreted this complex concept with great precision, contributing ideas of their own, not only executing but also creating.”

A full 60 sec live action/animation spot will go to air in China next week.
