Former BBH Asia Pacific Head of Creative Technology and Product Director set up new venture to solve idea sharing for teams

Pieter_Thijs.jpgThijs Jacobs, former BBH Asia Pacific Head of Creative Technology, and Pieter Walraven, former Product Director, have launched Pie – a web application for modern teams to share and discuss inspiring finds and ideas.

“When at BBH, we noticed that people are constantly sharing and discussing inspiring links over email. We loved the culture of sharing, but we saw that sharing links over email is completely broken. It clutters inboxes and relevant finds easily get buried. After talking to clients and partners about this issue we learned that they too have the same problem. This is when decided to build Pie, a web application where you share and discuss interesting things you find on the web with your team,” said Walraven.

Pie is very different from your average enterprise software. Already in the sign-up you experience the strong focus on design and UX; it’s a tool that feels different, easy-to-use and fun. Pie is great to start conversations with your team about industry news, best practices and anything else you find on the web that you need for that project you’re working on. It lets you organize things in boards, so you can quickly find things that would normally get lost in email, chat or folders.

Besides having been heavily involved in the evolution of BBH’s global Digital offering, both have extensive experience in building technology products that serve millions of users, ranging from social gaming to contextual search and productivity apps.

“We’ve had an amazing time working on BBH’s award winning digital campaigns and some exciting new digital product innovations such as Perfetti van Melle’s Chuck Studios. But we simply couldn’t resist the opportunity to set up this new venture. We’re thrilled with all the support from BBH and Publicis in the past, and are excited to have them as a client,” said Jacobs.

After Jacobs and Walraven left BBH, they spent a few months working from a cafe before raising a round of investment from notable investors, including BBH Asia Pacific’s former ECD, Steve Elrick, and growing the Pie team to 8 people. Singapore is quickly becoming a hotbed for technology innovation and Pie is poised to lead that charge. Sign up for Pie for free here.
