SCC.jpgOver the last two decades, corporate social responsibility has become of increasing concern to the business world. This has resulted in growing interaction between governments, businesses and society as a whole.

Today, socially responsible corporate citizens are no longer defined by the amount of funds they sink into a charity. It is more overall involvement in activities that improve the quality of peoples’ lives, and the community they live, play and work in. There is mounting recognition of the momentous impact the activities of the private and public sectors have on the community, environment and social cause.

The Singapore Creative CSR Awards, organized by Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Singapore, is timely. It is calling on designers and creative professionals and firms to shift their focus and use their special knowledge as much on how they and others construct social problems rather than just working towards finding solutions.

Organized as part of SingaPlural 2014, the anchor event of the Singapore Design Week, this event is supported by the DesignSingapore Council, Singapore institute of Architects, Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects, Singapore Furniture Industries Council, The Design Society, Interior Design Confederation, Singapore Institute of Planners, Textile & Fashion Federation, Design Business Chambers Singapore, the Singapore Creative CSR Awards is now open for entries to all organizations in the private and public sectors.

“A holistic and strategic view of CSR is now the norm. Achieving long-term strategic advantages, along with social and environmental contributions, is just one hallmark of a good program. What we expect from designers and creative professionals in our field is to apply their exceptional talent and creative thinking to solve societal issues in unique, unconventional ways that produce exceptional results. A tall order and thus this unique recognition and award,” said Ted Choo, Co-Chairman, Singapore Creative CSR Awards 2014.

“It is timely for the creative industry to use design to improve lives. By putting users at the heart of the innovation process, designers and creative professionals are able to create useful products and services that address society’s needs. This award is a welcome recognition of their social responsibility efforts,” added Jeffrey Ho, Executive Director, DesignSingapore Council.
