Dave McCaughan returns to Hong Kong in new role as managing director McCann Worldgroup

Dave Mc.jpgDave McCaughan has been appointed to the newly created role of managing director, McCann Worldgroup Hong Kong in addition to his regional responsibilities as director of Truth Central, McCann’s thought leadership unit. McCaughan will move from his current base in Tokyo and assume his role as managing director on January 1 2014, where he will work with CEO, Spencer Wong.

 

McCaughan returns to Hong Kong after 10 years in Japan where he was regional director for Truth Central; regional planning director, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care and general manager McCann Erickson.

 

Dave McCaughan said, “Hong Kong is a fabulous market. Having spent three wonderful years here previously, I’m looking forward to returning. Our office, led by one of Asia’s greatest creative directors in Spencer Wong, is a hive of activity and opportunity. Ambitious plans have been set for 2014; Spencer and I look forward to seeing these plans come to fruition.”

After nine years with McCann in Sydney, McCaughan moved to Asia in 1995 as consumer insights director for McCann Asia Pacific, and later becoming president of McCann Thailand. In 1999, McCaughan moved to Hong Kong as regional planning director for McCann Asia (ex Japan), and regional account lead for Coca-Cola and Darlie among others. In 2003, McCaughan moved to Japan as regional director for strategic planning Asia Pacific and in 2011, he took over the responsibilities of general manager of McCann Erickson Japan.

 

McCaughan is a founding member of the Global Planning Council at McCann, a unit he helped establish in 1995 with the idea to strengthen the network’s thought leadership capabilities globally.

McCann Worldgroup also recently appointed Brandon Cheung as director, digital strategy and Christopher Howard, digital media strategy for McCann’s Cathay Central Team.
