Village Slum in Jakarta puts up listing on Airbnb

AirBB.jpgCome rainy season every December, a village slum in South Jakarta goes under water. The culprit is a clogged canal that blocks the flow of water.

Every year, iris Worldwide Indonesia goes around their office to collect donations to help the villagers. But iris, whose offices happen to be right next to the slum, believes this is not enough.

This year they are trying something different. They asked the villagers if they were willing to give up a room for travelers. and iris is now listing this on Airbnb.

“The people who use Airbnb are exactly the kind of people who might be up for something as crazy as this!” said associate creative director Jeremy Chia.
