The Sweet Shop’s Mark Albiston of Mark & Louis crafts a heartfelt thank you letter in newest spot for Franco-Vietnam Hospital via Phibious, HCMC
Award-winning director Mark Albiston from directorial collaboration Mark & Louis has partnered with Vietnamese agency Phibious Ho Chi Minh City to create a heartwarming new spot for Franco-Vietnamese Hospital.
Entitled “If It Wasn’t For You”, the piece couples evocative vignettes with an intimate voiceover in which a young woman thanks not only the doctor who saved her life, but also the countless people who helped provide the standards, education, and resources necessary to do so. The result is an emotionally stirring piece that reminds us that behind every hero are a thousand other heroes whose quiet contributions help make life-saving change possible.
Says Albiston: “This was a great spot to work on, the film was written around the true life story of Dr Dai who practices at FV Hospital. He stars in the commercial. It was amazing to hear real stories as we were filming together. His work really has saved lives, he was a very passionate man he was an inspiration.
“Vietnam is a rich visual universe to film in and the people are amazing which made it a lot easier to work with our mix of mostly street-cast hospital staff and actors”.
Says Claire Davidson, executive producer of The Sweet Shop Asia: “It was wonderfully refreshing to work on such an emotional, compassionate and humane commercial. Elements of the script resonated within each of us for various personal reasons we could relate to, making the project all the more special when working in conjunction with the agency and client.”
Says Alberto Talegon, creative director, from Phibious: “We can’t be happier with the result of this collaboration between Phibious, The Sweet Shop and FV Hospital. Bringing to life a real story has its challenges, but with the support of FV everything went really smoothly.
“We believe that Phibious and The Sweet Shop are raising the standards of how brands communicate in the Vietnamese market, rewarding the viewer with authentic pieces of storytelling.”
This spot represents another powerful piece in Mark & Louis’ growing body of work as well as the third collaboration between The Sweet Shop and Phibious.

you can see this tvc fly right over the heads of the Vietnamese consumer. weeeee.
Nguyen you may be right, I don’t know.
But it would not surprise me given that I don’t think there are any vietnamese working in advertising in HCM, if you go by the ad credits.
Nice work. Very different for vietnam.
