Dick van Motman, President and CEO of DDB Group Greater China said, “Richard has a reputation of energetically building and re-invigorating agencies, as well as being a key driver in attracting top talent and new business growth. Richard’s great strength is passion for business creativity and I’m proud to have him lead both the Shanghai and Beijing offices. For the past two and a half years, he has successfully led DDB Guoan, Beijing, to become one of China’s leading agencies with steady growth momentum and is the obvious choice to also lead the Shanghai office.”

“I am excited about the opportunity, one not to be missed, to continue building upon our DDB Beijing and Shanghai successes — taking our business growth to another level and offering our top talent opportunities across North China,” said Tan.

Tan has more than 22 years experience in the communications industry including 14 years in China. He has worked with several global agencies including Euro RSCG, D’Arcy, McCann Erickson, BBDO and Batey. He has also worked with DDB in Singapore.

Prior to joining DDB Guoan, Tan was Vice Chairman of Euro RSCG Greater China responsible for the management and development of Euro RSCG 4D. His experience in China crosses many industries and several of the world’s leading brands including Johnnie Walker; Johnson & Johnson; Jaguar, Schering-Plough; Dell; Benckiser; Coca Cola, Motorola and Volkswagen.

“I delighted to have Richard lead both DDB Beijing and Shanghai,” said John Zeigler, Chairman and CEO of DDB Group Asia Pacific, India and Japan. “He is an energetic leader who can light up a room when he walks into it. I am confident, with Richard’s leadership, we will continue our impressive growth in our China operation and increase our talent pool across North China, preparing us for the next level of our expansion plans.”
