DDB and McDonald's in Hong Kong gets kids to design the best McDonald's restaurant

McDonalds4.jpgMcDonalds6.jpgMcDonald's in Hong Kong is out to create the most amazing McDonald's store in the world, designed by kids for kids and, in the process re-connecting with families this summer.

Entitled 'I'm Amazing!", the campaign saw McDonald's and DDB Hong Kong work with one of the top schools in Hong Kong to kick-start the design process where kids were invited to design the McDonald's restaurant of their dream.

The 20 most popular designs voted publicly online may brought to life at the first ever McDonald's Restaurant in the world that is designed by kids for kids. At the end of the campaign, the designs and furniture will be sold at an auction to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities®, in advocating the kids helping kids spirit.

The basis of the campaign is supported by an interactive website, where kids are asked, 'If you could build the store of your dreams, what would you put in it?"
Kids and parents can draw a design using the online colouring crayons, or upload an image or video. So as not to limit creativity to a digital device, actual drawings can also be submitted through McDonald's Restaurants. Throughout the campaign, designs are rated on their newness and popularity.

Jeffry Gamble, Executive Creative Director for DDB Group Hong Kong said, "The 'i'm Amazing' campaign embraces every kid's true passion and creativity; which ultimately makes every kid feel amazing. As for the parents, McDonald's surprises them by showing them how astonishingly talented their kids really can be."

In just ten days, the website received approximately 45,000 page views and over 760 submissions. The campaign runs until the end of August.
