VICE selects Prodigy’s Ben Briand for inclusion in ‘best brand content on the web’ listings

Campaign Brief 473.pngProdigy director Ben Briand has made the cut for ‘highly respected’ cultural authority VICE Australia’s listing of the best brand content on the web.

Entitled Brand Rolled,  the selection was a competitive list that includes top global talent Spike Jonze,  Harmony Korine and Johnny Knoxville.  Featured brands included Grolsch,  Absolute,  K-Swiss and Phillips.

Briand’s amusing short film ‘The Gentleman Shaver’ was directed for male grooming brand ‘The Art of Shaving’.  It is part of a series of highly successful character portraits that bring the essence of the esteemed American brand to life.

For those who haven’t seen the film,  it was envisaged as a humorous throwback to a nostalgic form of silent cinema,  with a contemporary spin. The spots were developed through BBDO New York.

The collection of films was screened exclusively as part of Mumbrella360. The full collection can be found here.

Briand’s stylish, cinematic approach has produced award-winning campaigns for such clients as Sony Ericsson, Toyota,  Moccona,  Westfield and Benah. He also wrote and directed three critically acclaimed short films: Apricot,  Some Static Started and Castor & Pollux (all competed back to back).
