Don't miss CB's coverage of the D&AD 50th Anniversary celebrations this week in London
For the first time, D&AD is opening the judging process up to selected media to get a behind the scenes look at how the most difficult creative prize to win is awarded. Over 150 top creative minds will descend upon Olympia from across the globe including jury formen John Hegarty, David Droga, John O'Keeffe, Graham Fink, Bob Gill, Marina Willer, Morag Myerscough, Bob Greenberg and a host of other legendary creatives.
CB is one of only seven trade press organisations from outside the UK invited by D&AD to cover the festivities.
In addition, several jury members will be writing daily reports exclusively for CB, including Warren Brown, creative founder of BMF, who is foreman of the Radio Advertising jury; Menno Kluin, head of art and ECD at DDB New York - who is on the Art Direction jury headed by Sir John Hegarty; Steve Back, chief creative officer, Ogilvy Singapore, who is on the Integrated and Earned Media jury headed by David Droga; Marcus Rebeschini, chief creative officer of Y&R Asia, who is on the Press jury headed by Graham Fink; Simon Langley, ECD and partner at 303Lowe Australia, who is on the Outdoor jury; Russ Tucker, national digital ECD at Tequila, Sydney; and Tony Clewett, ECD at DraftFCB Auckland, who is on the Direct jury.
For the first time ever, D&AD will be
announcing the Yellow Pencil winners at an exclusive event on Thursday
evening where each award will be presented by the Jury Foreman.
The winning work will be showcased in a surround-sound experience at London's Imax theatre for selected press, nominees and the judges. They'll gain a rare insight into the judges' decisions as the Foreman reveals the near-misses, the controversial winners and why each piece deserved to win the Yellow Pencil.
Tickets will then go on sale for the main event of the year, D&AD/50. This event in September will honour the lives and talents that have shaped the creative industry over the past 50 years and reveal this year's Black Pencil winners.
