Kevin Le.jpgKevin Le, the equal number one ranked creative in last year’s Campaign Brief Asia Creative Rankings, is to join Y&R Jakarta as Executive Creative Director.

He joins from BBDO/Proximity Malaysia, where he spent the last seven years working on major brands including MINI, Pepsi, Drypers, Olympus and KFC. He was part of the Jeep “Two Worlds” team that won multiple Gold awards at shows including Cannes, D&AD, Clio, New York Festivals, London International Awards and Spikes Asia. The campaign turned out to be easily the most awarded print campaign of 2009 and ranked No1. in The Gunn Report 2009. An anti-drink driving campaign for HELP was also a major award winner and picked up a Malaysian Effie. Prior to BBDO/Proximity, Le was at Naga DDB and McCann-Erickson.

Speaking about his appointment, Le (pictured above) said, “I’m looking forward to a fresh new challenge and I believe that Indonesia has great promise when it comes to the digital and non-traditional spheres.”

Commenting on the appointment, Andrew Dowling, CEO, Y&R Jakarta said: “We are delighted that Kevin is joining us, he will be a huge creative asset to the agency. His appointment demonstrates our determination to build a creative legacy, which began last year when Y&R Jakarta were named the most creative agency in Indonesia by Campaign Magazine, and won Indonesia’s first and only Cannes Gold Lion. We must continue to build a reputation for innovative thinking and Kevin’s creative input will be invaluable in helping us to develop ‘resist the usual’ solutions for our client partners.”

Jeep_Husky_Camel.jpgLe takes over from current Y&R ECD, Sachin Ambekar, who led the Y&R Jakarta team to Cannes glory with the LG Electronics GX200  campaign last year.

Marcus Rebeschini, Chief Creative Officer, Y&R Asia said: “Two years ago no one had heard much about Y&R Jakarta and Sachin played a huge role in helping us establish a strong presence in the Indonesian market and I truly thank him for that. Sachin is keen to explore new opportunities and I totally respect that and know he’ll be an amazing creative asset wherever he goes. With Andrew Dowling just joining and Kevin now on board, I feel the office definitely has a powerful partnership at the helm.  With Kevin’s talent and under his creative leadership I know we’ll see even more creative stars emerging in Jakarta than we’ve seen in this recent year. He’s an amazing hire and will be a great asset to the office.”
