Jonathan Teo leaves Y&R for BBDO/Proximity Singapore executive creative director role – creative director Bridget Taylor moves on
BBDO/Proximity has lured Australian expat Jonathan Teo (far left) to their Singapore agency in therole of executive creative director. Teo is currently ECD at Y&RShanghai. The move reunites Teo with BBDO/Proximity chief creativeofficer Danny Searle with whom he worked at The CampaignPalace, Sydney in the 90s. Teo fills the ECD role vacated by Jagdish Ramakrishnan back in September last year.
In other moves at BBDO/Proximity, Kiwi expat creative director Bridget Taylor (above) has resigned after less than a year in the role.Taylor is a multi-award winning creative, having won awards atD&AD, Clio, One Show, Cannes Gold and Adfest. She was previously adeputy creative director at DDB New Zealand where she was instrumentalin helping the agency win Campaign Brief’s NZ Agency of the Year twice.
Taylor told Campaign Brief Asia: “I start filming the new series of The Gruen Transfertoday so I’ll be in Sydney a lot over the next few months. As for mynext move, I’d rather not say, but there are some very exciting thingshappening.”

Good hiring! I guess all the BBDO offices in Asia is still focussing on Work, Work, Work (the mediocre ones).
For once, a fair and well thought out appointment from BBDO.
she is hot! (talking creative talent of course.)
Big loss for BBDO
Bridget was the best thing that ever happened to BBDO. She was great with the clients and with her co-workers. All the people that worked with her, including yours truly, love and admire her and despair of ever finding such a great and selfless ruler. She managed so well, like a queen of creativity and effectiveness. It’s a pity she’s leaving juts as BBDo is going to be the next big thing in advertising, integration, retail, digital, POS, BTL, events, awards, product development, R&D, pharma, CRM and activation. All of which she set the basis for. And such a great and giving attitude, always mentoring, coaching and fixing client problems. Can we not keep her? Must she really leave??
Well, the new guy won’t be as ‘hot’ for sure.
Judging by the praise, it seems like she left quite an impression.
Is the person who wrote Comment 9:12PM smoking crack. BBDO had some of the best talent in Asia in Juggi, Jonathan Mackenzie and Bridget Taylor. So any hopes of being the ‘Next big thing’ surely flew out the window. You cant just keep on replacing great talent and not with such a traditional mindset. The rumors circulating in Singapore about the place surely must all be true now.
Looking in from the outside surely the reality is that BBDO does not look after good creatives. Juggi, Johnathan MacKenzie and now Bridget Taylor all left in the last 6 months. Rumors have been circulating in Singapore that its all talk and no follow through. This must be true. Why else would so many top CD’s leave in such a short space of time. I’m sure Danny Searle can talk it but can he manage it ? I doubt that Teo will last as long as Bridget Taylor did.
which one is Bridget?
Nowadays, BBDO is crappy throughout the region….Spore, Manila, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, HK, Bangkok. Only exceptional would be Malaysia but it seems they are heading downhill with the departure of Mun.
It’s all about the Work, Work, Work…like a factory.
I’m sure Danny Searle doesn’t need to be told this but maybe just gently reminded:
Getting good creative people means nothing if you have idiots in all other departments.
Btw, has anyone read the comments on Bridget in CampaignBrief NZ. That will give everybody a clearer picture.
Yes, Juggi is very talented, but – as the surprisingly honest press release from BBDO when he left made clear – he is only interested in awards.
His typical MO when faced with a real brief is to come up with one idea, get pissed off when it falls at the first hurdle, then retreat to work on something for Amnesty or SPCA. Nice to have that luxury. Naturally he is now at Ogilvy.
Bridget OTOH, is the real deal. A complete professional and all-rounder who can and has added a lot of value to real clients such as Sky TV in NZ, as well as being able to win awards. Of course no one in Singapore knows or cares about how to add value to a brand so her talent was probably wasted.
As an aside, I am pretty sure she didn’t know anything about this 3 weeks ago when we chatted about her plans for the future of the agency.
Guys seriously as an ex BBDO employee I can say the following…it’s one of the best in town. It doesn’t have a bunch of egotistical drips like Ogilvy prancing about punting scam print awards.Kai Toast anyone? It’s a real agency hell bent on change. A creative power house look at last year. Hat’s off to the team still there. Bridget Taylor is off to do her thing let it be.Juggi does what he feels works for him and he is great at times with that simple thought.
Leave it be ..its just advertising …were all on the little train so have fun and …stop being such a bunch of kids.
Good luck to Jonathan Teo …like all of us in the sinking industry he needs it
Ha. While I agree with your comment 9:27, it’s hard to advance such an admirable ‘live and let live’ strategy while taking time out to denigrate the ‘egotistical drips’ at Ogilvy.
In particular you appear to be having a bob each way with your fair-minded assessment of Juggi, who is now one of the drips…
I don’t think your comment about Juggi is a fair one, 6.45. That is not what I heard about Juggi’s stay in BBDO. At least he kept the accounts stable and held the department together. What have Bridget done during her stay here? There’s no awards to show. Rumour out there says she also pissed off a few clients, suits and creatives.
alright 7:27. stop barking at 6:45. 8:50 and 12:32 get back to work. you too 10:10.
Danny is the best creative leader ever, totally strategic and nail the problems to every communication and business challenges. Both hands up for Danny! Wait a minute… is that you at 4.40, Danny?
